MaBa = Mahasiswa Baru
MaTA = Mahasiswa Tugas Akhir

Ada satu persamaan antara MaBa dan MaTA di kampusku, yaitu sama-sama memakai atasan putih dan bawahan hitam. Tapi rentang waktu yang memisahkan keduanya bisa 3 tahun, 3,5 tahun, 4 tahun, bisa juga hingga batas studi yaitu 7 tahun.

Bagaimana dengan aku?

Aku menjadi MaBa pada tahun 2003 yang lalu. Kegiatan inisiasi kampus yang cukup menguras tenaga dan pikiran. Lewat masa itu, semester 1 kulalui dengan lancar. Jika bukan karena 1 mata kuliah yang mendapat nilai B+, aku sudah memperoleh IP 4 pada semester itu. Semester 2 nilaiku turun. Karena satu kesalahan kecil aku terpaksa mengulang satu mata kuliah. Sedangkan semester 3, aku harus bekerja sambil kuliah demi kelangsungan hidup di Surabaya ini.
Suasana kerja yang tidak kondusif sama sekali, banyaknya beban pekerjaan, dan majikan yang super perfeksionis membuatku muak dan stress. Untungnya prestasi kuliah masih bisa kupertahankan. Meski sudah ada nilai C+ yang menghias KHS.

Akhir semester 4 aku berhenti kerja. Pertimbanganku kala itu demi prestasi, biar tidak terus menurun. Nilai C yang bejibun di KHS semester 4 bikin aku stress, aku mencapai prestasi paling buruk selama masa kuliah. Semester 5 langsung padat dengan tugas proyek untuk 5 mata kuliah. Namun prestasiku semakin membaik. Semester 6 kemarin aku hampir menyamai prestasi pada semester 1, dengan hanya 2 mata kuliah saja yang mendapat nilai B. Alhamdulillah.

Semester 7 ini hanya tinggal 15 sks saja. yaitu:

1. Kerja Praktek 2 sks
2. Metodologi Penelitian 2 sks
3. Sistem Pendukung Keputusan 3 sks
4. Proyek Pengembangan Sistem Informasi 2 sks
5. Tugas Akhir 6 sks

Ya, aku sudah menjadi MaTA. Apakah aku bisa lulus semester ini? Semua itu tergantung pada kedisiplinanku mengejar target demi target. Semoga aku bisa lulus semester ini. Amiin.
